Mexico is a country of contrasts, where you can see both modern megacities and quiet traditional small towns, both the wild green nature of the tropical jungle and deserts, where the maximum that can be found is cacti… And, of course, do not forget about stunning beaches with white sand and warm gentle waters, and the heritage of ancient civilizations, and bright carnivals. So, vacation in Mexico can be the most diverse!
Mexico: location. According to Thesciencetutor, Mexico is located in North America, and you can relax here on the shores of the Gulf of California and the Gulf of Mexico, as well as on the beaches washed by the Caribbean Sea.

Also, the customs rules of Mexico include some restrictions on tobacco and alcohol products: no more than 400 cigarettes, no more than 25 cigars or 200 g of tobacco, no more than 3 liters of alcohol. Fruits, vegetables, plants, seeds, flowers, meat will not be allowed through customs. If you are taking any medications with you, make sure you have a prescription from your doctor.
Mexico: climate and seasonality. The weather in Mexico is usually very suitable for recreation, mainly in the capital the temperature is between +21 to +27, and in beach resorts from +27 to +32 (water from +24 to +30 maximum).
Mexico: time. The time difference between the capitals of Ukraine and Mexico is 8 hours. That is, if you are in Mexico, then subtract 8 hours from Kiev time.
Mexico: currency. The official currency in Mexico is the Mexican peso. You can exchange 1 US dollar here for 17.5 pesos.
Mexico: tips. In principle, in Mexico it is customary to tip. Their size ranges from 5 to 10% of the bill. Taxi drivers can round up the amount (for example, if $ 4.2 “dropped” on the counter, then it would be quite normal to leave $ 0.8 for a tip). The maids can also leave 1-2 dollars of “thank you”. Although, of course, how much to leave a tip and whether to leave them at all is the right of every tourist.
Mexico: telephone. Upon arrival in the country, you can purchase one of the cards of popular mobile operators, for example, Telcel (good coverage, but prices are not the lowest) or Movistar (cheaper, but catches worse in remote areas). There are also travel rates with lower rates for calls to your home country. All emergency services (police, ambulance and fire) can be called by dialing 06.
Mexico: electrical network. In Mexico, the mains voltage is 110V. Regarding the types of sockets, they are mainly designed for plugs with 2 or 3 flat plugs, so you will definitely need an adapter adapter.
Mexico: clothing etiquette. There are no special norms and rules of clothing etiquette in Mexico. But since the country is quite hot, it is better to wear light and light clothing made from natural fabrics, and be sure to wear a hat.
Mexico: official holidays. There are a lot of holidays in Mexico and almost all of them are accompanied by carnivals or other colorful celebrations. And they are definitely worth seeing! Therefore, when planning a tour for certain dates, it is better to get on one of the holidays. Popular in the country are both the usual New Year and Christmas (end of December) and traditional Mexican holidays:
- carnival in Mexico (every year the date is different, in 2017 it will be from 02/06 to 02/10) – a huge celebration of music, dance and costumes;
- radish night (on the night of February 23 to 24) is a traditional and unique holiday, which presents a lot of radish figures and sculptures! Takes place in the city of Oaxaca;
- day of the dead (from the evening of 31.10 to 2.11) – a kind of Mexican Halloween, during which you can see mass celebrations in “terrifying” costumes;
- Flag Day (24.02);
- Guelagueza is a holiday dedicated to the indigenous peoples of Mexico. At this time, there are a lot of festivals where you can get acquainted with the culture, tradition and cuisine of different regions and peoples of Mexico, the most interesting thing will be in the city of Oaxaca. The date of celebration is the last Monday of July. In 2016, it falls on July 25, in 2017 – on July 31.
